Alaska HOSA

Alaska Hosa State Officers

Meet your 2023-24 Alaska HOSA State Officers! Alaska HOSA State Officers are a critical component to the success of our organization. Officers help recruit members and manage HOSA at the ground-level. State office is a wonderful opportunity to work on a team of driven individuals all striving for the same goal.

Alaska HOSA encourages State Officers to focus not only on attending conferences but to facilitate chapter activities that serve needs within your community.

PRESIDENT
Aurora Brant

I have been a HOSA member for three years now, and I have been West Valley HOSA’s president for the past two years. I have competed at the state and international level; and I have traveled to internationals twice. After graduation I plan to attend college in order to pursue  a career in the medical field; although I am not quite sure what that career might be yet. I am proud to serve as the 2023-2024 Alaska state HOSA president.”

PRESIDENT ELECT
Yunseo Keum

I am Yunseo Keum, a Service High School junior. I also go by Justin if that is easier for you! This is my third year as a member of HOSA and have been a member since freshman year. I plan to go into pre med or nursing after graduation to pursue my goals as a healthcare professional! I hope that I will be able to be a nurse or some type of surgeon in the future.

VICE PRESIDENT – NORTHERN CHAPTERS
Ellison Pahkamaa

I’m Ellison Pahkamaa and I’m a junior at Hutchison high school. I’m have done Hosa for 3 years. This is my second year as a State officer and first year as my chapter President. Hosa is such an amazing opportunity for me to get to know and work with so many amazing people. I’m so excited to meet everyone this year!

VICE PRESIDENT – MEMBERSHIP GROWTH
Giselle Hernandez

My name is Giselle Hernandez, I’m currently a junior at Bartlett high school. I have been in HOSA for two years now. I’m the vice president for membership growth for this HOSA 2024. My Health career plans for the future are still undecided but I am planning on studying surgical technology/assisting at UAA.

VICE PRESIDENT – SOUTHERN CHAPTER RELATIONS
Ella Johanknecht

Ella Johanknecht is a senior at West Anchorage High School and has been a member of the West HOSA chapter for two years now. Currently working as a Research Technician with the UAA Division of Population Health Sciences, she has a passion for understanding the diverse factors that play into one’s health and aspires to go into public health policy and analysis as she moves through her professional life.

PARLIAMENTARIAN
Averie Laney

My name is Averie Laney! I am a college/high school student at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. I’m 17 years old, and I’ve lived in Alaska for 10 years. I have been a member of HOSA for three years now, but when I am not doing HOSA, I am likely on a softball field picking a terrible pitch to swing at. This is my senior season of softball, and I am a catcher! When softball isn’t going on, I am most likely in a hockey rink, as I am a member of stream and media for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, as well as a student athletic worker for the UAF Nanooks. If I’m not watching a hockey game or playing softball, then find me on some backwoods trail on the back of a horse with friends.

My health career plans are split two ways, but I would love to be a large animal veterinarian or an athletic trainer for a professional sports team/university! Both paths seem viable, and HOSA has certainly played a fundamental role in my thought process when it comes time to choose my major. I am thankful to be a member of HOSA, and look forward to the future!

HISTORIAN / REPORTER
Madison Fitzgerald

My name is Madison Fitzgerald, I’m from Fairbanks, Alaska and have lived here my whole life. I am a senior in high school and I’ve been exploring the medical field for awhile now. My long term goal is to be a nurse anesthetist! I currently work at the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in the Denali Center as a CNA. I got my CNA license this past summer and it’s the best thing I could’ve done, I love it. I have been in HOSA for two years, but this will be my first year being a state officer and I’m very excited. I can’t wait to meet you all at the State Conference this year, see you there!
